To design the DBO EVG began with a traditional 12 fret O body shape. They softened the contours of the waist and added full dreadnought depth. Replacing the original short scale 12 fret neck with a long scale 14 fret neck and adjusting the soundhole closer to the neck body joint allows for an "extra" forward shifted X brace. This, in combination with the hand scalloped bracing frees up the soundboard in the lower bout for greater vibration. The end result is greatly improved bass response and increased projection.
