Fender ® (used, 1958) Stratocaster Electric Guitar

    Tag No 39-2983 Used
#022631, three-tone sunburst, in very good plus condition with period or original tweed hard shell case. The Fender Stratocaster of 1958 is, by anyone’s estimate, legendary.

In the year 1958 we suppose it’s inarguable that the most important news event of the year was that on December 28th “the Chipmunk Song” reached #1 in the charts.  Oh yes, and also Elvis Presley, that year, joined the Army, Liz Taylor divorced her third husband, Mike Todd, and the former Brooklyn Dodgers officially became the Los Angeles Dodgers.   Meanwhile in Fullerton Leo Fender was doing well with his new guitars, Telecaster and Stratocaster, which models still had maple necks, and the earlier two-tone sunburst color became three-tone (brown to red to yellow).

Tag No 39-2169 Used Hear this instrument in our demonstration video!
#SE920861, in three-tone sunburst with a somewhat soiled tweed rectangular original hard case.

The question arises:  is this “SRV” model Strat early enough to still have a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard?  The answer is that this is most likely a later guitar and that the fingerboard is not Brazilian rosewood.   This model presumably has a Pao Ferro (variant of rosewood, sometimes called Iron Wood and sometimes called Bolivian rosewood) fingerboard hosting 10 white dotmarkers in 9 positions, having a maple headstock bearing a single string tree an the facsimile of Mr. Vaughn’s signature at the bulbous headstock end.

#160788, three-tone sunburst, in very good condition with newer Fender rectangular hard shell case.

The fact that this vintage vision of virtue is stamped “ES” inside, for “Enter Special,” a rare feature, and was made with an unusual looking three-tone sunburst – shaded in a manner one normally never sees – is a plus; that it’s a bona fide ’66 is a plus (with just a few revisions), and that it plays extraordinarily well and sounds like Layla, herself, on a bed of lightly sweetened lingonberries, is indeed the reward that awaits us all at the end of a life well served.

Our Discount Price is $8,243.00 and Our Cash Discount Price is $7,995.00.
