Renaissance

The Studio Special series is a simpler version of the famous Renaissance RS-6 Studio Standard.  The difference is that the finish on the Special is all matte on top, sides, back, neck and headstock.   Its thinline body is built like a fine acoustic guitar, but with an added mahogany center block to cut feedback.

This thin, hollow, chambered guitar was custom-built for fingerstyle playing, and it’s one of the first (possibly the first) Renaissance RS-6 guitars with the wider fingerstyle spacing. It has a standard 25.5” scale, 1-3/4” nut width, and 2-5/16” string spacing at the saddle. The neck carve is a soft “vintage V” that is reminiscent of the best old Martin necks, and very comfortable.

Renaissance has sent us something that’s considerably off the beaten path.   It is a Custom Order RS6 (Renaissance Steel String 6-string) in mildly figured Hawaiian Koa back, sides and headstock overlay, with a top of one of the finest woods that a guitar can be made from:   Adirondack “Red” Spruce.   The top is double bound and so is the headstock.  

This has a wider neck than the Renaissance Hybrid has, but it’s still way smaller than a classical full sized neck and the sound may make some jump out of their skin (in a good way). Your cost for one of the finest sounding electric nylon string guitars known to exist is:
