This most desired of all South American tonewood guitar bears in interior paper label that bears the actual signature of Mr. Tony Rice, arguably the finest and most tasteful flatpicking country/bluegrass guitarist alive.     This model is patterned after Mr. Rice’s own late mid- 1935 Martin D-28.  This particular example is quite clean.   It is largely free from the normal types of use and wear.  The inside is quite immaculate.   The very squared-shape headplate is likewise Brazilian and, in this model’s manner, bears no logo – just the beauty of the Dalbergia contrasted with the burnished metal of the capstans and grommets and oval metal buttons.

This special, limited edition guitar is in excellent (or possibly excellent plus) condition however it requires a new bridge saddle and our shop is making it a hand-crafted, actual bone, compensated one.   The original saddle (which is frayed on the top and needs replacement) appears be Micarta and our carving it from bone will increase the amplitude, the sustain and the presence.  This is an example of one of the prettiest and most original Santa Cruz designs that Richard Hoover has ever dreamed up.  He limited it to the amount of wood he had available, which comprises a run of only 10 instruments.

Santa Cruz describes this as a parlor-size guitar that will surprise you with its presence; and this instrument, with its back, sides, and top of beautiful milk-chocolate with black streaks East Indian rosewood, is a little jewel. This is neither a toy nor a "travel guitar"; yet it will boldly go where your other instruments cannot.

This guitar has been $3,190 or at our Cash Discount Price, $3095.  It cannot be purchased at this time since it has to go back to its maker for work that only Santa Cruz can perform.   We do not expect to see it again until mid-late Autumn 2013.

This dramatic sounding model was designed to introduce the superior sound of Santa Cruz Guitars to players that had been afraid to touch them. SCGC’s reputation for relentless quality and attendant high prices kept many from even trying one out. The Pre-War Model was okay to approach, not inexpensive but not completely intimidating either. Given the opportunity to hear a truly sophisticated guitar, perhaps for the first time, players experienced a paradigm shift in what they thought possible.
