Allan Beardsell of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has been making remarkable stringed instruments for a number of years now, and this is one of his classic designs. This model 4A later became his 4G, and from that sprang the smaller 3G model.
The flamed maple body is 16-3/4" wide at the lower bout, and has a Laskin armrest, a rounded cutaway, a neo-classical ebony fingerboard with a one fret extension, the Beardsell low profile neck. Master grade spruce top and flamed maple back and sides, is equipped with chrome Grover Imperial tuners. Its asymmetrical headstock has a boomerang and a squiggle forming an interplanetary letter "B" in colorful abalone; the head plate and back plate are black ebony, as is the streamlined truss rod access cover. The neck is Mahogany, the fingerboard black ebony. There are two oval sound ports on the bass side, one on the lower bout, and one on the upper. Bindings are ebony. The neck shape is Beardsell's asymmetrical profile called a "teardrop V" which is "weighted" on the treble side so that it fits the hand quite comfortably. It also provides a flatter surface for the thumb. Custom-fitted Canadian Calton deluxe case, with charcoal exterior and blue interior, and "Beardsell" engraved on the ID plate.
The condition of the guitar is "excellent plus" condition; showing minimal signs of use and wear. There are some very (really small) light scratches on the side of the headstock and on the binding of the body (on the shoulders). It is otherwise in "like new" condition. This unique vessel will amaze you with its glorious tone and views from the side portholes.
