The teardrop shape of the American OF Mandolin offers much more than you would expect from its simple design. The O style creates a boomy, deep range that speaks with clarity and authority in any situation you find yourself in. Composed of Sitka Spruce for the top and Figured Big Leaf Maple for the back and sides, the OF has tone bar bracing which further complements the bold projection. Breedlove mandolins are said to be easy to play with a radiused fingerboard and oversize frets that allow for extreme comfort. The finish on this OF is a sumptuous satin, both beautiful to the eyes and to the hand.
Here are its vaunted specifications: It has a 1 3/16th" nut width, which we love - in fact we special order some of our Collings mandolins with this wider and more comfortable nut width. Tuners are gold plated Gotoh. The neck joint is of the bolt-on persuasion; the neck is made from one piece of maple; the fretboard she is ebony. The nut and saddle are, respectively, Tusq. The scale length is 13 15/16th", the case is a Deluxe hard shell. It is made in Bend, Oregon, right here in the good ol' USA. The pickup supplied by the manufacturer is an L.R. Baggs Radius.
Stan is deeply a fan of this grand and well-planned mandolin and even if he weren't he would say this just to hear the repeated "an" sound. Sometimes we wonder about that boy.
