This truly magnificent and outstanding sounding guitar is made from glorious striped ebony on the back and sides, has bloodwood bindings on top, back and fingerboard; the fingerboard is inlaid with the Art Deco dotmarker pattern (5 small dots on the bass side ending at fret 12, and 4 small dots on the treble starting with fret 12). It has what appears to be a high quality Sitka spruce top, that has turned a deep orange, an abalone soundhole rosette (in four sections just like Beethoven’s 9th), a wing-ed ebony two-piece bridge with a compensated blone saddle, a bone nut, a black ebony headplate bordered with a thin ring of white around it and the “Bgco.” headstock logo. We’re not sure what that means, exactly, but we think it has something to do with bagel manufacturing. Hardware, including sealed-back mini-Grovers, is gold- plated; a nickel-plated strap pin has been forcefully insinuated into the treble side of the heel.
This guitar shows small signs of normal wear including extremely light scratches and dings; there is an closed and repaired seam separation down the center of the back from the heel cap and proceeding southward for 15 ½” down from that. A strap, apparently, has caused nicks in the sharpest portion of the lower heel of the neck and also lightly nicked the top point of the triangular rosewood heel cap as well. All of these notes about signs of playing time may make this sound like it shows signs of use, and it does, but we still consider this as being in excellent condition. This 17” wide behemoth is both big and mighty and it swells with pride every time it is played (which is why you need to wait 20 minutes before putting back in the case). NOW ON SALE!
