Collings (used, 1993 January) C-10 Deluxe

Tag No 58-9978 Used

#666, in very good plus condition with hard shell plush lined case.

Here’s what Collings Guitar Company has to say about this model:  Based on parlor guitars first introduced around the same time as the OM, the Collings C10 is a leaner alternative, with the narrow waist and small upper bout resulting in a precise, focused response. Of all our acoustic models, the C10 is perhaps the easiest for electric guitarists to adapt to, thanks in part to the more rounded neck profile. The small oval neck heel is ideally suited to the optional cutaway, which allows unrestricted access to the upper frets. With its unique shape and asymmetrical headstock's lines echoed in the curvilinear pickguard, C10 models offer a welcome alternative for those who find that most small acoustic guitars look too much alike.”    They then go on to list the features of the current model – meaning the way the guitar is built today in 2011 which may be slightly different than how it was built sixteen years ago.   Anyways, here’s what they say:   “Features Include:  Features Include:  Select Sitka spruce, East Indian rosewood back and sides, grained ivoroid bindings with black nitrate purflings, matching ivoroid rosette, pre-war scalloped bracing. tortoise-style pickguard, high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, mahogany neck, double-bound fingerboard and peghead. ebony peghead veneer, inlaid Collings logo, ebony fingerboard and bridge, dot fingerboard inlays, fully adjustable truss rod, bone nut and drop-in saddle, ebony bridge pins and end pin and, finally, nickel-plated Schaller Mini-tuners.”

The reason this was stated as “please call or email for more information” is because when this came in we performed a neck reset/refret  and we had it sent off to have that done. In addition to that work, there are a few other factors we addressed as well.  This guitar, upon making first appearances, showed some finish deterioration from exposure to unanticipated wetness, which also resulted in a 5" seam separation, both occurring along the back bottom edge –  and these issues are being addressed as well.  There was also a top crack below the bridge on the treble side.  All of this was, of course, properly repaired and possibly spot refinished to help them to, um, “go away.”  Touchup may show.  This guitar, when it came in, evidenced light capo marks on the back of the neck – these may be mitigated as well by the facility doing the rest of the work.  This guitar has returned from the land of slow dances and second chances you will hopefully love what we did with the place.  If you can get past that serial number, which may, alone, scare the bejesus out of some otherwise very sensible guitar players, this guitar will, renewed and rejuvenated, be ready for another 45 years of musical expression.
