This model was introduced into the Fender line in the middle of 1946 and then called a “Dual Professional.” The name was changed to “Super” early in 1947. The amplifier is described as having a “wide panel” cabinet with a tweed covering; the controls were at the top wherein one finds 3 pointer knobs. It is rated at twenty watts but produces a tremendous amount of sound and volume. In 1954 the control plate changed to four knobs on a narrow panel. Against the shiny metal back plate are found, in order, “On-Off,” “Standby-On,” a red indicator light, and then three chicken beak controls for “Tone,” “Inst.,” “Vol.,” “Mic. Vol.” Then there are four jacks – two “Instrument” inputs and 2 “Microphone” inputs. This fine amplifier has had a tune-up, there are additional tubes in the back cavity; we do not know whether any structural work was performed. We note that it has a replaced leather handle but that the original handle and 6L6 tubes are retained in the back. The twin speakers are original Jensen code 220308, dated 1953 in the eighth week. This is an extremely fine example of a rare Fender amplifier, which has survived in exemplary condition and sounds like the tone and timbre you hear on the recordings of your most favored artists. Note: We prefer not to ship vintage tube amplifiers - we feel that the risk of damage in shipment is too great. This piece is best seen in person, in our showroom.
