The Builder Speaks: My Parlor (13.5" lower bout) guitar is made using a Western Red Cedar top, Claro walnut back and sides, a Khaya neck, a cocobolo bridge and fingerboard. I used Leopardwood binding which is one of the world’s most exciting materials, and provided it a burled walnut soundhole rosette. It has a 24" scale.
This guitar’s top wood comes from another unusual find: in addition to the beautiful coloration it displays some of the densest cedar I have seen. To my ear, it contributes a tone that has the darkness and warmth one expects from cedar but with more focus and headroom. I've had great success with this wood combo.
