Martin (new) D-28 Acoustic Guitar

Tag No 39-2762 New

#1647056, with hard shell case.

Per the C F Martin website: The D-28 is the Dreadnought by which all others are judged. Constructed of solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top and mahogany neck, this instrument has been a favorite of artists from Hank Williams Sr. to Jimmy Page. Massive bass response balanced with articulate highs makes this a benchmark acoustic guitar and a must-have for many guitarists.  It is perfect for the intermediate and advanced player.

More Than You Really Needed to Know Department:  Why, yes, this model is called the Model D-28 – no surprise there; it is constructed with mahogany blocks/dovetail neck joint; its top would be solid Sitka spruce usually deriving from North America; it has the rosette of a Style 28; the top bracing pattern is standard ''x''; its top braces are, by golly, solid Sitka spruce and measuring a lithe 5/16''; the back and side material is solid East Indian rosewood; the back purfling is, ahem, Style 28;  its heel cap, endpiece and bindings are white Boltaron (Superman’s® putative nemesis); the top and back border inlay style is comprised of multiple layers of black/white Boltaron; it has no side purfling; the neck, which is low profile, is made from select hardwood; el nut is bone; the headstock is solid with a square taper and a diamond dart carved behind the nut; the headplate, why that would be a  solid East Indian rosewood veneer sporting the raised gold foil.

Its fingerboard material is what you thought:  solid black ebony; its scale length is 25.4”; it has 14 frets clear of the neck and 20 frets total; the fretboard width at the nut is 1 11/16th” and the figure of 2 1/8” is both the fingerboard width at the 12th fret and also the strings spacing at the bridge saddle.  Fingerboard position inlays are, um, Style -28 meaning mother of pearl dotmarkers; the top, back and sides are finished in polished gloss while the neck is left satin or matte; the black solid ebony bridge is belly style and houses 6 white bridge pins with block dots; the saddle has a 16” radius, is compensated and made from bone; the pickguard is black and plastic, the case is also plastic being a molded thermoplastic 640.   Wow, that’s a lot to remember.   The D-28 is the mainstay of an entire industry and would look really great in your living room.
