Paul Reed Smith (used, 1999) Custom Archtop II

Tag No 32-4265 Used

#40835, in violin amber finish, in excellent plus condition, with the original form fitting hard shell case.

This guitar was originally purchased from Mandolin Brothers back in 1999.  Below is the original description from that time:

This guitar was made for a store which, when they were called in anticipation of delivery couldn’t for some reason buy it.  Knowing that we LOVE amazing top-of-the-line special guitars, our PRS rep called us and said “What would you say to a Custom Order archtop with a ONE-PIECE top and one-piece back of the most incredible flamed maple we can remember ever finding (one-piece guitars are very rare), with a wide-fat neck, abalone birds in the board, gold hardware, stop tailpiece, twin gold plated McCarty humbucking pickups, two knobs, a three-way switch and mahogany sides?”  He told us that this guitar would be considered “Private Stock,” which is referred to in the Paul Reed Smith video tour as being made from the most choice special woods which are available, for only the finest custom instruments.  The mahogany sides are matched perfectly to match the golden amber color of the flame maple top and back.  Paul R. is a true artist whose vision of what an archtop guitar is and can be is so far distant from the traditional D’Angelico/Stromberg/Gibson/Epiphone approach as to make one feel as if they have suddenly awoken late into the new millennium.  His finish work is outstanding, actually flawless.  We were told that if this had been labeled as Custom Shop “Private Stock” Archtop II its list price would have been nearly twice as high as the list price assigned to it (since it was a special deal).   Prepare to gaze upon the most magnificent musical instrument (of any type) that you may ever see.

This guitar is in “excellent plus” condition because it shows very little signs of use and wear. The top, back and neck show just about no sign that it has ever been played. There are only two places I can find wear: on both sides of the headstock, beneath the tuners there are chips in the finish.   On the bridge there are very small chips in the gold plating. The frets show only light wear.

Our Price is $4,750.00.
