    with all original tags and papers in the pocket including the Diploma-like Certificate testifying that this was made as a special edition.  When better semi-hollow body guitars are made they will undoubtedly have a “Gibson” logo on their headstock.  This one not only has that logo in gleaming (like a laser) but it has the Gibson crown or flower near the center of the headstock and a white bordered black bell-shaped truss rod cover above the nut.

    #050915, in very good condition, burgundy mist finish (though it could be dark cherry), with a newer Gibson “Custom Shop” black (somewhat worn) hard shell.
    If this guitar vintage Gibson semi-hollow body guitar from an extremely good period had been maintained in wholly original, excellent condition and unaltered in every way it could have been worth in the range of $6500. Luckily for you (since it makes a fine sounding guitar much more affordable) it has experienced a few changes (who among us hasn’t), and is also marked for life with a stamped “2” which is something like Hester’s “A.” And so, as a “player” with an complicated past, it can be yours for a lot less.

    This thin, hollow, chambered guitar was custom-built for fingerstyle playing, and it’s one of the first (possibly the first) Renaissance RS-6 guitars with the wider fingerstyle spacing. It has a standard 25.5” scale, 1-3/4” nut width, and 2-5/16” string spacing at the saddle. The neck carve is a soft “vintage V” that is reminiscent of the best old Martin necks, and very comfortable.

    In the spring of 1958 Gibson changed the course of Western Music again by introducing the famous ES-335 thinline (semi-hollow) double cutaway which took the world by storm (whatever that means). Some people would find it interesting to know that in the first year Gibson shipped 267 ES-335s in sunburst and 50 in natural, just 317 guitars, which has a lot to do with why they are so valuable.
