Andy Statman Visits Mandolin Brothers (Video #2) D'Angelico (1939 - circa) 12-string Mandolin

Andy Statman is, by anyone’s standards, one of the finest mandolin players in the United States. We find it interesting that Wikipedia gives him primary credit for being a klezmer clarinetist (Wiki doesn’t capitalize the K) and then, oh yes, also as a bluegrass/newgrass mandolinist. We, who have been lucky to have known him since the late ‘60s, stand in awe of his prodigious talent.

Santa Cruz (new) D Pre-War Acoustic Guitar

This dramatic sounding model was designed to introduce the superior sound of Santa Cruz Guitars to players that had been afraid to touch them. SCGC’s reputation for relentless quality and attendant high prices kept many from even trying one out. The Pre-War Model was okay to approach, not inexpensive but not completely intimidating either. Given the opportunity to hear a truly sophisticated guitar, perhaps for the first time, players experienced a paradigm shift in what they thought possible.

Martin (used circa 1940s) Style 2 Soprano Ukulele

The Martin Style 2 is relatively modest in appointment having a two-ply top purfling, three ply soundhole rosette, and yellowed ivoroid top and back binding.  The body is all mahogany, so is the back of the neck; the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood.
