  1. Gibson (used 1936-1940) F-4 Mandolin

    Gibson (used 1936-1940) F-4 Mandolin

    Tag No 32-4434 Used
#ISI1402, excellent, sunburst, with original hard shell case.

Boy, this one’s for the history books.  First of all Gibson just didn’t make a lot of high-end mandolins in the last years of the Great Depression, first years of the War-nobody could afford em and few workers remained at the plant to get work done. F-4 mandolins like this are impossibly rare.

    Our Price is $4,895.00.

Bacon & Day (used, 1925) Silverbell No 1 Mandolin Banjo

    Tag No 32-4426 Used
#17325, in "very good" condition with the original hard shell case.

There are few banjo styles as well regarded or as beautiful in their simplicity as the prewar B&D Silver Bell No. 1.  Silver Bell was the highest numbered series in the B&D banjo line.   This one has the scalloped headstock design, the flowery headplate that is inlaid with many pieces of mother of pearl forming wreaths and branches and leaves and flourishes with the words “B&D,” and then “Silver” and then “Bell” in large pearl script.

    Our Price is $1,645.00.

All in all this is a remarkably great sounding and loud mandolin.   Sonically, on a scale from one to ten we think this is a 9.8!  For performance, recording, or just for hugging all of the time to provide oneself comfort, this mandolin, like a fish to a peckish pelican, fills the bill.

    Our Price is $5,195.00.

  10. Martin (used c. 1930 to 1934) Style 2 Ukulele

    Martin (used c. 1930 to 1934) Style 2 Ukulele

    Tag No 32-4394 Used
    #ISI2188, with gig bag.

This Style 2 shows WAY less than normal signs of use and wear but there are a few teeny chips around the headstock, with some pinpoint dings here and there.  The instrument has received, at the hands of our professional luthiery lurkers, a proper “set-up”  (adjustment, cleaning and restring).   We will also be repairing 4 cracks on the back.  This small but capable uke has power, projection and punch, even when played softly, and takes its rightful position as being one of the most desirable vintage ukuleles in our stable.

    Our Price is $795.00.

  11. Martin (used, 1936) D28 Re-Topped Acoustic Guitar This item is NOW ON SALE!

Martin (used, 1936) D28 Re-Topped Acoustic Guitar Now on Sale!

    Tag No 32-4369 Used
#64494, **NOW AVAILABLE!!** in “very good” condition, with newer Geib style hard shell case.

In spite of the changes made to the guitar that are considered less than ideal by vintage guitar lovers (please read full description by clicking on "more info" below), it sounds nothing short of phenomenal.   It’s got a boomy bass, crisp full mid-range and a crystal clear treble that can be so hard to come by with other more available rosewood varieties.  We expect it to sound even better (not to mention easier to play) when the repairs have been completed by our dedicated (nearly fanatical) fangists.  Without these changes, this 1936 D-28 might have sold today for $90,000!  WAS $17,995 BUT NOW:

    Our SALE Price is $14,995.00.
