  13. Martin (used, 1949) D-28 Acoustic Guitar

Martin (used, 1949) D-28 Acoustic Guitar

    Tag No 32-4368 Used
#110007, Sitka Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, in “very good plus” condition, with period appropriate case with the name “Warren Purdy” written on a plate on the case.

Epic poems and mythological fantasies that cross cultural boundaries are written and sung about C F Martin D-28 guitars made in the 1940s. The pace at the old North Street (Nazareth) factory was considerably slower in those halcyon postwar days.   While C F Martin Co. was able to ship out a monumental 5,980 D-28 model guitars in 1973 (or approximately 23.64 of them produced per working day), in 1949 they shipped a total of only 427 D-28s (or around 1.69 per working day).   The wood choices that were commonplace back then are, by today’s standards, mind-blowing.  The Brazilian rosewood is quartersawn and straight-grained to the max.

    Our Price is $13,900.00.

Goodall (used, 2002) Koa Grand Concert Acoustic Guitar

Tag No 32-4347 Used Hear this instrument in our demonstration video!
#KGCK2757, in “excellent plus” condition, with the original hard shell case.

The interesting thing is that if you were to price this guitar today the amount you’d pay for it would be astronomical (like Hale-Bopp – also known as C/1995 O1, but without the tail).  In actuality it would list for something like $9,550 (wow).   This one, however, is previously owned and so you, clearly, reap the benefits.      Even though this guitar was made almost entirely from the fruits of the Hawaiian leeward forests, its sound is buoyant and boisterous, robust and resonant.   In terms of sonic superiority it’s right up there with Dolby® Stereo.    You are going to love this instrument.

  17. Martin (used, 2005) OM-28 Marquis Acoustic Guitar

Martin (used, 2005) OM-28 Marquis Acoustic Guitar

    Tag No 32-4346 Used
#1087635, in “excellent plus” condition, with the original hard shell case (which has a broken latch).

The Marquis series is Martin’s highest level East Indian rosewood instrument, made very closely to prewar specifications but not mind-alteringly expensive as it would be if it were, shall we say, Brazilian. It is, nevertheless, lovely and confident in its ability to sound full, round, loud, robust, stately, distinguished, and both tuneful and toneful all at the same time.

    Our Price is $2,985.00.
